First Stop, located in the heart of Huntsville on Stokes Street, was formally established in 2008 to reach out to and empower the homeless community in order to reduce the street homeless population. First Stop’s mission is focused clearing a path out of homelessness. They accomplished this by encountering homeless people where they are (outreach to homeless camps), connecting them to important services at our Day Center (meals, showers, laundry, medical aid, etc.), and empowering them toward independent, sustainable living through intensive one-on-one case management.
