VectorNEXT Connects with Students Across Two Campuses:
This fall, the VectorNEXT team has been busy connecting with students and sharing more about the opportunities available through a career in financial planning. In September, our team visited the University of Alabama and Freed-Hardeman University, offering students two different opportunities to learn more about Vector, our internship program, and the financial services industry.
University of Alabama
On September 15, our team attended the University of Alabama’s Financial Planning Association mixer and career fair. Paige Armstrong, Josh Jordan, and Marshall Dearing had the opportunity to meet students interested in financial planning and share more about the VectorNEXT internship experience.
For Paige, the event was especially meaningful. As a former VectorNEXT intern herself, she understands firsthand what the internship can offer and enjoyed connecting with students who are considering a similar path.
“I loved meeting so many prospective students for the Vector internship program. Beyond talking about what Vector does and what our interns get to experience, I really enjoyed hearing about their interests and passions, and what’s driving them toward a career in financial planning,” Paige shared.
She was particularly impressed by the confidence and enthusiasm of students who are just beginning their college experience.
“What stood out most was the eagerness in the room, especially from the freshmen who have been on campus for less than a month. Being brand new to the university and the organization, and still walking up to employers with confidence, takes real boldness.”

Just a few days later, on September 21, Vector returned to Freed-Hardeman University for our annual VectorNEXT Preview Event.
The event provided students with an opportunity to have candid conversations about what it is like to be a financial advisor, learn more about Vector and our approach to the profession, and hear directly from one of our industry partners about their role within financial services.
Senior Partner Marshall Dearing shared, “Our hope through this event is to show the tremendous opportunity for young people as they enter into the financial services industry and make a lasting impact in their communities, churches, families, and beyond.”
The day was designed to give students an honest look at the profession and the many ways a career in financial services can create opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others.
Investing in the Next Generation
While the two events offered different experiences, they shared a common purpose: connecting with students, answering their questions, and helping them explore what a career in financial planning could look like.
At Vector, we believe investing in the next generation of financial professionals is about more than recruiting interns. It is about building relationships, sharing our experiences, and helping students discover opportunities that align with their interests, strengths, and goals.
We are grateful for the opportunity to continue these conversations with students across the region and look forward to seeing where these relationships lead.
