AGAPE of Northern Alabama was awarded $4,000 from the Vector Wealth Strategies Community Impact Fund in October 2017. Recently, we followed up with Natalie Balch, LICSW, director of social services at AGAPE, to see how the grant was used.
“AGAPE will use the grant to hire two interns for the summer of 2018,” Balch said. “Part of our mission is to help train up-and-coming social workers so that the profession as a whole can be strengthened.”
Balch went on to explain that the interns allow AGAPE to provide more activities and training for foster families during the summer months. Interns plan activities including a summer day camp for foster children, a parents night out for the families and a training night.
AGAPE is a Christian child placing agency in North Alabama. Their team of social workers recruit foster families, train and license them, and then support them throughout their foster care journey. They also work with adoptive families as well as women who experience unplanned pregnancies.
